For Speed Freaks - Speed (Young World Productions, 1965?)

Yeah - go! go! go! Like Dean Moriarty! Burn rubber! Blaze a trail through life as if it's a race to the death...which, actually, it is, and you may wish to emulate James Dean, live fast, die young, but the chances that you did all you wanted to before ending up fused with the mangled wreck of a Porsche Spyder are remote, so think about it.

Meanwhile, here are some images from a Gold Token book I picked up the other day. I can't find publication date but it was given to one Ross Biddiscombe by St John's Methodist Sunday School in 1965, who must have been almost as thrilled as I was to find this hard cover large format homage to speed.

We affirm that the world’s magnificence has been enriched by a new beauty: the beauty of speed. A racing car whose hood is adorned with great pipes, like serpents of explosive breath - a roaring car that seems to ride on grapeshot is more beautiful than the Victory of Samothrace. - F.T. Marinetti
